Checking out the grape harvest at Quail's Gate Winery in West Kelowna, BC.
Today is the one year anniversary of The Lazy GF Chef! True, I did take a few months off, but I still thought it was worth mentioning!
To celebrate this milestone, I’m going to share some photos from my recent trip to one of my all time favourite Okanagan Valley restaurants, Old Vines Restaurant at Quail’s Gate Winery.
Any time I have out-of-town visitors, I always bring them to Quail’s Gate Winery. So when my dear friend Asia came up from Seattle, we enjoyed a beautiful, sun-soaked lunch on the patio.
A creature of habit, I always order the amazing Wild Mushroom Risotto, but it turns out they weren’t serving it for lunch that day, so I tried a few other menu items and was not disappointed!
We started with the Beef Carpaccio appetizer. The wine is their 2009 Dry Riesling – a new favourite for sure.
Our second appetizer (that's right!) was the Pear and Endive Salad with honey roasted pear, arugula, candied pecans, blue cheese and sherry vinegar dressing
For the main dish I ordered the BC Albacore Tune - grilled rare, sundried black olive and organic quinoa salad, anchovy and lemon vinaigrette.
Great food and great company - that is Asia on the right. We ended our visit with an decadent Tahitian Vanilla Bean Crème Brulée, and a stroll through the vineyards. Lovely day!
